Job Shadowing and Teaching Mobility to CEIP Víctor Mendoza – Binéfar, Spain

As part of our ongoing commitment to international collaboration and teacher professional development, four educators from our consortium schools visited CEIP Víctor Mendoza in Binéfar, Spain. Three teachers (from the 5th Primary School of Florina, the Primary School of Vevi, and the Primary School of Ydrousa) participated in job shadowing experiences. At the same time, one (from the Experimental Primary School of Florina) took part in a teaching assignment.

Throughout this enriching mobility, participants engaged in various activities and tasks that fostered intercultural understanding and professional growth. Some of the key activities included:

Mythology Lessons – Delivery of creative lessons to Grade 6 students, connecting Greek mythology with local myths and using digital media to enhance engagement.

Observation of Preschool and Early Primary Education – Participants observed phonics games, puppet theatre activities, and early literacy and mathematics lessons in Grades 1 and preschool.

English Language Teaching – Observation of English lessons in Grade 6, including preparation and delivery strategies, and multilingual learning environments.

Support for Migrant Students – Insight into inclusive support systems, differentiation strategies, and the use of digital tools like touchscreens to promote equity in education.

Science and Digital Integration – Observation of science lessons in Grades 2, 3, and 5, incorporating interactive whiteboards, digital platforms, and online resources.

Music, Movement, and Culture – Participation in a Grade 2 music and movement lesson involving singing, choreography, and theatrical play, as well as discussions on cultural awareness.

Social Studies and Digital Tools – Observation of social studies classes using online platforms to enhance student participation and digital literacy.

Sports and Social Interaction – Active participation in a school badminton tournament that fostered teamwork, collaboration, and social engagement.

School Collaboration and Inclusion Strategies – Meetings with school management and staff focusing on inclusive education, intercultural approaches, and strategies for addressing societal challenges.

This mobility experience strengthened several key competences of the participating educators. They developed their literacy competence through the preparation, delivery, and observation of lessons focusing on oral, written, and creative expression. Their multilingual competence was enhanced by engaging in multilingual learning environments and reflecting on English language teaching practices. They observed and discussed mathematical and scientific competence in action, particularly how science and mathematics lessons were supported by digital technologies. Their digital competence grew through the use and observation of interactive whiteboards, touchscreens, online resources, and digital collaborative activities. Moreover, the mobility promoted personal, social, and learning to learn competence as they interacted with diverse educational contexts, observed inclusion strategies, and took part in team-building physical activities. Their citizenship competence was deepened through engagement with intercultural education approaches, reflection on inclusive support systems for migrant students, and dialogue about societal challenges within educational settings. Finally, they strengthened their cultural awareness and expression competence by delivering mythology-based lessons that connected Greek and local myths and participating in music and arts-based activities.

We are grateful to CEIP Víctor Mendoza and the entire school community for their warm hospitality and collaborative spirit!
