CHAIN Consortium Teachers Visit Viimsi School in Estonia

From 11 to 15 May 2026, four teachers from the CHAIN Consortium participated in an Erasmus+ job shadowing mobility at Viimsi School, near Tallinn, Estonia, within the framework of the Erasmus+ project 2025-1-EL01-KA121-SCH-000322820.

The participating teachers were Eleni Missiou, Christina Lazaridou, Styliani Koukoufika and Konstantinos Tzavidas. During their stay, they had the opportunity to experience everyday school life in Estonia, observe lessons in different subjects and age groups, and exchange ideas and practices with local teachers.

The mobility started with a warm welcome from the teachers of Viimsi School, followed by a tour of the school facilities and an introduction to the school’s learning environment. Throughout the week, the Greek teachers observed lessons and activities in Mathematics, English, Physics, Informatics, Physical Education, Technology, Robotics and Art/V-Tech.

Particular interest was given to practical and creative learning activities, such as Stop Motion, robotics, technology and woodwork-related tasks. These activities offered valuable examples of how creativity, problem-solving, digital tools and hands-on learning can be integrated into everyday teaching.

Another important aspect of the visit was the way Viimsi School supports movement, wellbeing and outdoor learning. The participating teachers observed Physical Education activities, running in the natural environment around the school, class activities in a nearby park and swimming lessons. These experiences highlighted how the school connects learning with physical activity, autonomy and student wellbeing.

The teachers also had the chance to observe activities related to students’ personal interests and cultural expression, such as hobby classes, sewing and knitting activities, as well as the school’s spring concert.

Equally valuable were the professional discussions with Estonian colleagues. The teachers exchanged views on the Estonian education system, school organisation, teaching methods, student autonomy, the use of technology and possible ways to transfer good practices to the Greek school context.

The mobility also included cultural and social experiences, such as a visit to Tallinn’s Old Town and participation in local community activities, which helped strengthen the relationship between the partner schools and offered a deeper understanding of Estonian culture.

We would like to warmly thank Viimsi School, Erasmus+ coordinator Kirke Kobi, and all the teachers who welcomed our team, opened their classrooms, shared their practices and contributed to a meaningful learning and cooperation experience.

This mobility was a valuable professional development opportunity for the teachers of the CHAIN Consortium and further strengthened the international cooperation between our schools through Erasmus+.
