From May 5th to 9th, 2025, ten sixth-grade students from the schools of our CHAIN consortium in Florina—accompanied by teachers—traveled to Bologna, Italy, for a week of immersive cultural exchange and collaborative learning. Hosted by I.C. N.20 Bologna, the mobility welcomed students from the Experimental Primary School of Florina, the 5th Primary School of Florina “Theodoros Kastanos”, and the Primary School of Vevi, alongside 14 Italian peers from Bologna.

Throughout the week, the Greek and Italian students worked side by side, participating in daily classes and special workshops. A highlight of the program was the intercultural classroom activities, where students engaged in discussions, creative group work, and problem-solving tasks. These sessions fostered communication, teamwork, and flexibility in a multilingual environment, allowing students to expand their self-confidence and empathy while practicing English as a common language.
The mobility also included a visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MAMbo), where students reflected on social and personal identities through art. In a post-visit workshop, they shared their interpretations and connected their experiences to the visual narratives explored at the museum, building their discussion skills and cultural expression.
A guided historical tour of Bologna’s city center offered students the chance to connect past and present, deepening their knowledge of European history and urban heritage. As they navigated the city, they practiced listening comprehension in English and shared reflections on how history shapes cultural identity.
The week also included an exciting visit to San Luca via the San Luca Express and a group picnic at Giardini Margherita. This informal learning activity fostered social bonds, teamwork, and intercultural dialogue while introducing practical travel skills and cultural adaptability.
This mobility was a unique opportunity for our students to bring their classroom projects—focused on open spaces in Florina such as playgrounds and parks—into an international context, sharing perspectives with their Italian peers. We’re incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, curiosity, and collaborative spirit.
A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and students of I.C. N.20 Bologna for their warm hospitality and inspiring activities throughout the week. This mobility strengthened the European dimension of our education and created lasting connections between students from Greece and Italy.
